woman and stack of moving boxes
Packing tape is stickier than your regular tape. It can be used to strengthen your boxes, tape your boxes closed and even to keep your moving blankets from falling off your nicely wrapped furtniture.

Packing Tape

Packing tape comes in an exotic range of colours, such as brown, beige, coffee and creamy grey. So maybe it’s not that exotic… but you aren’t exactly showing it off.

If you are confused about what packing tape is, it’s just like sticky tape (I call it cellotape) but wider and stickier.
You can use packing tape when moving a house or office to package items and seal the ends of bags. You can also use it to strengthen boxes so that it doesn’t fall apart.

Dimension Information

Packing tape is 48mm by 50m, and can be found online and in most office supply stores. You can also buy a dispenser that makes it easier and faster to use. The dispenser has a ragged metal end where you pull the tape to the length you want, and then pull downwards which cuts it.

The best thing about packing tape, apart from its stickiness, is that it is only $1.00 for a whole 50 metres worth. If you can’t afford any of the packing paper or moving blankets then just cover everything in tape and polystyrene. (I’m joking, don’t actually do that.)

TIP:

Never apply packing tape directly onto furniture surfaces; it will leave behind a sticky glue residue that is hard to remove.
