Moving blankets are really important to ensure that your furniture arrives at its destination in the same condition that it left with. Yes moving blankets may seem to be expensive, but believe me repairing a broken/torn piece of furniture will cost more.

If you have ever moved house or office furniture, then you may have experienced the annoyance of scratches and scrapes that occur. Moving blankets are what the professionals’ use when moving furniture. High quality and heavy duty, it is like an extra shield to protect your valuable objects from damage.

They come in a few different sizes: standard, medium and large.

The standard size is 150cm by 190 cm, which is 28,500 square cm. If you are like me and rubbish with working out how big this actually is, it is converted into 2.85 square meters, or 30.6 square feet. This is roughly the area of a typical office desk. You usually buy them in packs of 5 up to 800, depending on how many objects you are moving. A pack of 5 blankets is $20 which is $4 each.

The next size up is 150cm by 230cm which is more of a rectangle shape; you can buy five for $25 or $5 each.

The large moving blankets are 150cm by 275cm, for $6 each.


Moving Blankets Aren't Just For Furniture

You can also buy blankets for carpets; this will stop them from getting dirty and stop any markings or dampness from occurring. Carpet removal blankets come at 26cm by 120cm, for roughly $10 each.

Can You Afford Not To Use Moving Blankets

You're probably thinking, “they’re expensive, not worth it”. Yes, you are right they are expensive; worth it I think so. Picture this. You purchased that beautiful couch; you paid what $2000 for it? Now your moving out, going through a doorway the upholstery snags and rips, to recover it will cost say $500. Not COOL!! Ok, so now let’s cover it with moving blankets, for a 3-seater you will use 3 of the large blankets at $6 each, for a total of $18. See the difference? Now ask yourself, is it worth covering?
