woman and moving boxes
When you move you need more than just boxes; you need moving supplies such as packing tape, packing paper, bubble wrap, etc.

Moving Supplies

Moving can be very stressful. There is always something that will go wrong, and you will get in a panic. There’s nothing that can change that but if you have the right moving supplies for the job, you can’t go wrong.

Obviously when you move a house or office you will need some form of packaging to place the items in, this usually comes in the form of a strong box. Additionally, you need the less thought of supplies to get ample moving ability.

Supplies for moving may include some of the following:
Packing tape,
Bubble wrap,
Packing paper,
Furniture covers,
Marker pen,
Zip ties,
Specialist boxes.

Okay Describe What You Mean

The packing tape is fairly obvious, it is a special tape that is stickier and stronger than most, so to strengthen the things you tape up. You can use packing tape to strengthen boxes if you are overloading them.

Bubble wrap is an overlooked supply; if you don’t use it then you would wish that you did when you’re dining plates turn up in millions of pieces. It is useful in padding out any items in boxes that are loose, the air bubbles in the bubble wrap is used as protection against sudden impact.

Packing paper is for using when you want your damage prone items in a tight, protective cocoon. It is ideal for protecting plates, glass cups, and porcelain. You can purchase special acid-free paper so it doesn’t discolour your silver.

Furniture covers does exactly what it says on the package, it is made for covering furniture and protecting them from the little scrapes you can get on the corners when moving them. You know the ones, once it’s happened you can’t stop noticing it every time you walk by it.

A marker pen is used for writing on boxes, so you know what goes where. It’s more obvious to see when unpacking compared to a pencil or ball point pen.

Zip ties are used for concealing your bedding sacks, or clothes sacks. They are also great for protecting people from stabbing themselves with garden tools, by tying up the ends it becomes less accident prone.

Specialist boxes include ones for your golf clubs, extra large ones for anything big you may have, or even a wardrobe box to keep your clothes hanging up even on the move. It is handy to have if you do like to keep things in order, and they aren’t very expensive.

Then there are the boxes themselves, you can get them in various sizes for your variously sized items. The best thing about boxes is how cheap they are. Boxes are built out of corrugated cardboard, which is stronger than normal cardboard, so you can store heavier things in them. You buy these boxes flat-packed, so they won’t take up a load of space prior to move date. Allowing ample time for preparation. If you use packing tape around the corners of the boxes it can strengthen them even more.

So purchasing the right moving supplies before your move date is the first step in a successful move. You need the tools to be able to achieve the finish!

TIP:

Depending on the size of your move, it is recommended to buy your moving supplies at least 3-4 weeks prior to your move date, allowing enough time to pack.
